The Atlantic Boulevard interchange struggles to support the number of vehicles that wish to utilize it.
CURRENT MAJOR ISSUES
The full cloverleaf design of the interchange has severe capacity limitations. The weaving distance between the loop on ramp and the loop off ramp is too short to accommodate the heavy flows of crossing traffic.
The traffic signals at Glendon Way and at Hellman Avenue are so close to the off ramps that off ramp traffic cannot enter Atlantic. This causes backups along the ramp, sometimes onto the freeway.
Stop signs at the end of the loop off ramps reduce the capacity of those ramps, causing traffic to back up along the interchange area.
Both the eastbound and the westbound on ramps are very short, making entrance to the freeway difficult.
